Two Small Steps to some great walking ....
Step 1)
Have a look at our Walks Programme and choose when you'd like to come and join us.
For the coach rambles have a think which group you would like to join. If you are not experienced then we'd recommend the C group. If you're a bit more experienced and a bit fitter then we'd recommend the B group. We do NOT recommend you go straight onto the A group until you've done at least one B group walk and you get a feel for the pace. (Note: You can come along for two rambles before having to become a member).
Also have a think which bus stop you'd like picked up from - see Coach Route section on the Walks Programme page.
Step 2)
Contact us..... To ask any question about our club please get in touch with any of the committee members:
Frank - email: frank.mcgurty@sky.com
Still not sure?
We are a very sociable bunch and our rambles normally conclude in the closest pub to our coach pick up point where we chat about the events of the day and have a good laugh. We also hold regular parties, quiz nights etc on non rambling days just for the crack.
Check out our Facebook page where some of our members add photos from our latest rambles or just email us to find out more. We'd love to have you come along and explore our stunning Lake District. Hope to see you soon.
What you will need?
Boots - Wear a pair of comfortable walking boots that you have tested out with some decent socks. Your first ramble is not the place to test them out. Go for some short walks in them first. Trainers are not suitable for hill walking.
Clothing - Dress for the weather - so check out the weather forecast before each ramble. Waterproof top/ waterproof trousers/ hat / gloves are always good to have with you as the weather may not be as predicted. Jeans are not suitable for hill walking.
Packed Lunch - Food for lunch and hot/cold drinks for the day.
Mobile Phone - fully charged and ideally a battery back up. We recommend all walkers have the free Ordnance Survey app "OS Locate" app installed (shows your grid reference location) and that you give your group leader your phone number.
Money - for the coach and for refreshments
More Kit and additional information
If you're going on the fells a Whistle, Torch, Bivi bag and First Aid Kit and extra clothes, are highly recommended.
Keep any spare clothes and equipment dry by keeping them in plastic bags.
A more detailed description of suitable walking clothing can be found here: Ramblers - What to wear guide.
A great read for general information is the BMC Introduction guide to hill walking and the shorter guide created by Mountain Rescue.
